Canada is also a party to the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption 6 but did not sign it until mid-1999 and ratified it in mid-2000. 7 Canada signed the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in mid-2004 and ratified it in late 2007.9Canada did not make any changes to the CFPOA in order to comply with either of these two conventions, likely because these conventions generally are less onerous than the OECD Convention.Thus, the OECD Convention has been the primary international instrument driving Canada's foreign corruption avoidance regime.
