Abstract
Jinta county is located in the Jiuquan area of northeast Gansu Province,Northwest China.More than 10 times of straight investigations were made on the species,population and ecological distribution of the birds in the Jinta during the period from June 2009 to October 2009.Along with the present documents,61 species were recorded,which belong to 14 orders,28 families and 46 genera.In them there are 11 residents,37 summer migrants and 13 kinds of passing birds,including 8 species under state-grade protection.Palaeoarctic realm plays an important role in the avifauna,accounting for 65.2% of the breeding birds and only 3 species of oriental realm.The habitats are wetland,grassland,bush and settlements.The population of rare birds in the Jinta is declining,mainly caused by the habitat loss,human activities.It's significantly important to protect the habitat for conservation plans.
