Abstract
Sense of social responsibility is an explicit embodiment of university students' comprehensive qualities.Whether the students have the courage to shoulder social responsibilities is not only closely related to the quality of talent-cultivation,but has far-reaching impact on a nation's future and destiny as well.The article introduces the successful experiences of Canadian universities,i.e.carrying out volunteer service and fostering their students' social responsibility by establishing a sound system and structuring a practicing platform.It analyzes the current default of the social responsibility of Chinese undergraduates and points out that Chinese universities should learn from the practices of their Canadian counterparts,reinforce volunteer service and set up practical platforms while emphasizing the socialistic core values as its guidance so as to elevate the social responsibility of the students.
