Abstract
Objective:To explore the reason for the dysfunction of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPAA) in acute withdrawal in heroin addicts.Methods:Radioimmunoassay (RIA) was applied to measure the concentration of cytokines(IL-1β,TNF-α,IL-2)and peptide hormones (ACTH,CORT,β-EP) in plasma at different time points,and then analyzed the relationship between cytokines and the hormones by correlation analysis.Results:Correlation analysis showed that the amount of IL-1β was significantly related to those of ACTH and CORT in plasma both before acute withdrawal and withdrawal 14 days.However,TNF-α played a leading role for HPAA in the 7 days of withdrawal,and ACTH had greater impact on CORT.Conclusion:IL-1β and TNF-α are important for dysfunction of HPAA in acute withdrawal in heroin addicts,and the role of β-EP and morphine cannot be ignored either.
