Abstract
Atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) is a control/living polymerization technique.The use of the technique is conductive to obtain hydrogels with target architecture by initiator design,and the same time the uniformity of the hydrogel networks is improved.The progress in application of ATRP in hydrogel preparation is reviewed with regard to initiators with different architectures such as linear,branched and inorganic structures.The mechanism of formation of a hydrogel networks by ATRP is also analyzed.
