Abstract
Authentication system is an important part of broadband networks, but the popular authentication systems nowadays are not suitable for embedded system because of the client software sizes. This paper discusses the merits and demerits of these authentication techniques, and presents an authentication method based on DHCP and simple TCP communications. The method has been used in our embedded system and functions well.
