Abstract
Focusing on Cat's Eye and applying the power theories by Michel Foucault and Irma Serrano-Garcia,this thesis argues that after settling down in Toronto,all the relationships the protagonist forms with girls and women before she leaves this city fall into the pattern of victimizer and victim which is caused by the binary oppositional way of thinking.By exposing the destructive relationships among women,Atwood intends to break out the stereotype of women's relationships as sisterhood.She advocates people to approach women as real human beings and wake up to the problems among women. By exposing destructive power relationships within women, Atwood challenges the limitation of second-wave feminist theories.
