The level and related factors of subjective well-being among older people in the elderly homes

Abstract
Objective To investigate the level of subjective well-being of older people in the elderly homes,and to analyze its related factors.Methods Totally 103 older people were recruited from an elderly home in Beijing.They were investigated with the Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness(MUNSH),a self-designed questionnaire about the demographic data,health status and leisure activities.Results The average score of subjective well-being was 39.30±8.17.Income,pain level,educational level and will to participate in leisure activities were influencing factors of subjective well-being,which explained 31.1% of the total variance.Conclusion The level of subjective-well being among older people in elderly homes is relatively high,which is influenced by multiple factors such as economic income,pain,educational level and will to participate in leisure activities.
