Abstract
Both China and Canada are countries of multi-ethnic groups with multi-cultures.Both have problems concerning relationship between majority and minority nationalities.Both are facing the challenge of how to treat ethnic minorities and how to develop cultures and education of ethnic minorities.On the basis of reviewing the history of higher education for ethnic minorities in the two countries,this paper,taking the Central University for Nationalities in China and the First Nations University in Canada as examples,makes a comparison of development models of higher education for ethnic minorities between the two countries in order to further explore the background and factors leading to the differences between the two countries and open a new field in the studies on higher education for indigenous groups as well as ethnic minorities in the new century.
