Abstract
Objective To understand the basic health status of senior citizens in rural and urban Beijing in order to provide scientific evidence for making health policies, distributing health resources properly and improving service system.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted with multistage sampling. Information was collected by face-to-face interview by interviewers with standardized structured questionnaire.Results Only 31.84 percent of the all 666 interviewees felt well or very well in health, and 21.62 percent of them felt poor or very poor. During the past month, nearly a quarter of the interviewees felt depressed occasionally or frequently, and nearly a half of them suffered problem of insomnia or with dreams.Conclusion In order to meet the demands of senior citizens in psychological health, social support and care should be strengthened for them.
