Abstract
Using the SWOT analysis, the paper analyzes the strength, weakness, opportunity and threats in the development of Jiangsu regional economy and core cities, and establishes the strategy matrix of coordinative development of regional economy and the core cities’ sustainable development in Jiangsu. This study indicates that in order to realize the core cities’ sustainable development and the coordinative development of regional economy, Jiangsu should seize the opportunity of the development along the Yangtze River, strengthen the industrial restructuring, boost the development of the cities along the Yangtze River, carry out the strategy of building a prosperous Jiangsu through science and education, pool resources, speed up the economic development and social progress of the central and northern Jiangsu on the premise of keeping the development tendency of the south, play the key part of core cities in the regional development, stress the synergistic effect of core cities’ sustainable development on small towns’ development, transform the way of economic growth, seek the diverse resource- intensive patterns for economic growth, and follow the development way with ecological benefit.
