Abstract
Objective: To prepare microspheres of insulin with sustained drug release and study the drug release mechanism of insulin-chitosan microspheres. Methods: The microspheres were prepared by emulsifying cross-linkage method. Results: The microspheres had a property of sustained drug release. Conclusion: The drug release process of the microsphere is combination of several stages, which are the break-through effect of drug, the hydrolysis of imine bond ,the hydroscopic expansion of chitosan and the drug diffusion through colloidal viscous layer.
