Due to its great potential applications in laser medical,laser imaging,optoelectronic couter measure and eyesafe lidar,signal crystal fiber laser becomes to be a hot research topic in noval solid laser source.The preparation methods of single crystal fiber and the mechanism of single crystal fiber laser are analyzed.The development of CW,Q-switched single crystal fiber laser and single crystal fiber amplifier are presented.And the merits and demerits of single crystal fiber are discussed,and also its further development trends are prospected.
