Air gap in turbine-generator is one of the most important electro-magnetism parameters.If the air gap in a unit is not uniform during installation and operation,it would affect performance of the unit.It reflects some deficient problems of design,installation and operation.At present only after installation of a unit,air gap can be checked at static state by using simple method.Air-gap may occur during operation which can not be monitored.In order to understand the state of rotors and stators and to find out hidden faults early enough to ensure safe operation,the engineers of the Qiafuqihai Hydropower Station introduced an Air Gap Monitoring and Analysis System from Canada.The System can measure air gap exactly under all kinds of working regimes so as to make comprehensive appraisals.This system will also provide a scientific basis for power plant to guide overhaul of units,play long-term effects.
