Polymer microcapsules are a kind of new polymeric functional materials. It has great potential values in many fields,such as life science,medical science,chemistry and materials science. It can be used as limiting reactors,drug delivery systems and nuclear material protection device,etc. The related research is very active in recent years. Various preparation methods for polymer microcapsules,including templates,assembly,polymerization phase separation,interfacial polycondensation,as well as the dendrimer were introduced. Their different characteristics were expatiated. The advantages and disadvantages of all methods were also compared. And the applied perspective of polymer microcapsules was reviewed in this article.
