Abstract
Through hydraulic model test of Tianqiao hydropower station reinforcing project,the theoretical equation and empirical equation of the surface flow critical water depth had been researched and compared with others.Some factors affected the change of surface flow pattern and critical water depth had been analyzed.It was found that the change of critical water depth values was neglect when nose angle changed from zero degree to fifteen degrees,lengthening the protection-apron and flow expansion result in the ascent of critical water depth values,the critical water depth values would descend if the bed level is reduced,or the nose height is increased.
