Media literacy is concerned with the process of understanding and using the media.The media literacy education in Canada has reached advanced level in the world.In Canada,Ontario is one of the pioneers in the field of media literacy education,and leads the world so far by its outstanding performance in this field.The characteristics embodied in the curriculum arrangement of media literacy education in Ontarian middle schools(Grade 7-12) are listed as follows: the curriculum goal of circular advancement by stages,the curriculum content of emphasizing critical thinking and creativity,the curriculum organization mode of stressing pluralism,flexibility and equality,and the six-level curriculum assessment criteria with an eye to details.The concepts and methods of the curriculum arrangement of media literacy education in Ontarian middle schools can be drawn upon in our attempt at fostering media literacy among middle school students in China.
