Abstract
Canada has abundant oil sands resources and tremendous development potential,with remaining proved reserves up to 26.99×109m3.Canadian oil industry is entering into a new round of development boom due to increasingly matured recovery technology,decreasing cost,continued rising of international oil prices and good investment environment.Based on comprehensive investigation on Canadian oil sands industry,this paper mainly analyzes and evaluates the technologies of open-pit mining and in situ recovery as well as their applicable conditions,and predicts the potential and future outlook of oil sands exploitation.Studies show that Canadian oil sands resources have huge potential,the in situ recovery projects will become focal targets,and the SAGD technology will become a future technical orientation.The results of this study will guide the evaluation and screening of Canadian oil sand projects and the application of relevant recovery technologies in other oil sand regions in the world.
