This paper presents a novel image edge extraction algorithm based on Ant Colony Algorithm(ACA).Using the gray gradient of image as a enlightening information and adding the change of movement direction,it is able to guide ant colony to search brink iteratively for the possible local marginal curve by updating the pheromones which distribute on the line.Finally,the purpose of extracting the edge of the image according to the quantity of the pheromone are achieved.The experimental results show that the ant colony algorithm has the advantage of positive feedback effectively to improve the accuracy of edge detection and obtain a relatively good edge extraction image.
