Abstract

In order to reduce the complexity of motion search in video coding standard H.264,a new early termination algorithm by detecting all-zero blocks is proposed in this paper.According to the characteristics of integer discrete cosine transform(DCT)and quantization,the proposed algorithm presents the adaptive detection threshold and early termination condition.By comparing the threshold with the sum of the absolute differences(SAD),it can adjust whether to ski Pthe motion search.The simulations show that significant complexity reduction of motion search is achieved while the degradation in video quality is negligible.
