Abstract
Objective To find out the related factors and extent of nursing work stress and help managers and nurses to realize the pressure correctly and try to deal with it.Methods Based on the pressure factors of nurses affirmed by the Canada Nurse Association and combined with related items of Sichuan provincial nursing work and hospital nursing work status,we designed a questionnaire.A survey was conducted by the way of questionnaire collected from 480 nurses who worked at various levels of hospitals of Sichuan province and received training in Chengdu since 2002.Results The extent of nurses' pressure was middle high.The extent of the pressure was related with duty.The frequency of pressure appearance was positively correlated with the extent of pressure.Heavy responsibility,a large number of critically ill patients to deal with at a certain time,work shift,requirement for being available anytime,unsolved nursing-related problems,and lack of training were major factors inducing work stress.Conclusion Nursing managers should abate the work stress of nurses by reducing all kinds of relevant factors. Nurses should pay attention to own psychological adjustment and in this way release work stress.
