Abstract

The concept of urban forest was originated from the U.S. and Canada. Since Professor Eric Jorgensen first proposed the integrated conception of urban forest, numerous scholars in China and abroad have discussed it from various perspectives, and defined its connotation from the aspects of component, function and management. Through reviewing studies on the function and benefit, evaluation, structure, planning and management of urban forest, the authors proposed prospects of studies on this field, and orientations for further enhancing value system, establishing scientific evaluation system, further promoting landscape analysis, strengthening monitoring and management, applying new technologies and methods.
