Abstract

The traditional event notification service (ENS) has been put practice into building large distributed systems. But a new emerging technology-content-based event notification service offers a more powerful and flexible mechanism for asynchronous ,decoupled communication between distributed and heterogeneous application. In this paper, we firstly introduced the concept of content-based ENS. Then we presented the overall architecture of CJNS-a content-based ENS for digital libraries, including its basic modal, distributed architecture, event routing algorithm, event broker's architecture and event filtering algorithm. We conclude by briefly discussing future work and suggest some open research problems in this area.
