Abstract
On analyzing the lessons and experience of blackout of USA and Canada in Aug. 14, the article combined the practical condition of Shanghai Power Network and discussed a protective measure from stand of power generating system. With the generator operating at the isolated island mood, it is of most help to the black start and to restoring power supply quickly at down town area, which can reduce heavy economic loss and social impact. Suggestion to implement the practice of isolated island mood operation was provided.
