Abstract
In this paper, InfiniBand and StarFabric bus technologies are studied and compared in detail from many aspects, such as basic features, hardware architecture, software architecture and applications. Some key technologies which use two buses to build cluster systems are also described. Through the extension of RDMA channel interface introduced by MPICH2, we design and implement a cluster system based on StarFabric network. And performance comparison with system connected by Gigabit Ethernet is given. At last, we draw the conclusion that it is feasible to build high performance clusters using StarFabric.
