Abstract
Zero Waste was advanced by the Zero Waste International Alliance early.Zero Waste means designing and managing products and processes to systematically avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials,conserve and recover all resources,and not burn or bury them.Metro Vancouver initiated the zero waste management in 2006.The government confirmed the management targets,fulfilled the policies to advance zero waste management,and carried out a lot of measures,the result was that the volume of municipal solid waste decreased largely.Vancouver′s practices have five points′ revelations for China: imports the Zero Waste idea;changes solid waste management mode from end-pipe to whole process management;establishes garbage control policies;fulfill charging policy and improves public environmental awareness.
