Abstract
54 wheat cultivars were selected as experimental materials,PPO activities in germinating were detected by colorimetry with catechol as substrate,at the same time,electrophoresis was carried out to analyze isozymes of 3 cultivars.The results indicated that PPO activity of majority cultivars increased rapidly after 12 hours in soaking,reached peak value at 24 hours,then it became smooth;the number of isozymes bands increased gradually in wheat grain germinating period,there were many high molecular weight isozyme bands at 48 hours and 72 hours,even four bands at the most;differences of isozyme among cultivars was existent.These changes had a great significance to study wheat PPO activity in germinating.
