Abstract
[Objective] To observe the expression of apelin in rats′ brain, heart, kidney and blood vessel tissues and the effect of intravenous injection of apelin on the blood pressure, heart rate and baroreflex sensitivity. [Methods] The expression of apelin was observed by immunochemistry assay. Intravenous injection of apelin was followed by observation of the change in rat′s blood pressure, heart rate and baroreflex sensitivity by PowerLab bio-signal capturing system. [Results] Apelin express widely in vascular system. Apelin can lower the blood pressure significantly in 2 minutes. Blood pressure came back to normal in 5 minutes. The baroreflex sensitivity decreased obviously. There was no obvious change in rat′s heart rate. [Conclusion] Apelin can decrease the blood pressure and the baroreflex sensitivity, but has no impact on heart rate.
