Housing Investment and Local Economic Growth——Based on the Empirical Research into the 1999-2012 Data of Hunan Province

Abstract
This paper has empirically analyzed the lead-lag relationship between housing investment and economic growth by using housing investment and GDP quarter data from 1999to 2012of Hunan Province.The results show that there only exists one-way causality relationship between housing investment and GDP.In the meanwhile,the generalized impulse response function and variance decomposition analysis also show that the impact of GDP on housing investment is greater than the impact of housing investment on GDP,and the development trend of GDP has a decisive effect on housing investment.As a whole,the conclusions are conducive to the local goverment's ;real estate investment policy.
