Abstract
Dans sa biographie de Louis Dantin (2013), Yvette Francoli laisse entendre que ce dernier est autant sinon plus l’auteur des poèmes de Nelligan que Nelligan lui-même et qu’il a toujours dissimulé son apport à cette œuvre. Le postulat de départ est qu’un élève médiocre ne peut pas devenir un grand poète. Afin de prouver la « mystification » de Dantin, elle lui attribue une foule de nouveaux pseudonymes ainsi que la paternité d’articles signés par divers auteurs, tout en s’appuyant sur des affirmations sans fondement, des rapprochements gratuits, des citations erronées, des erreurs de lecture, des anachronismes et des interprétations « artistiques ». Notre article déconstruit ce fragile échafaudage en faisant appel à divers éléments de critique externe et en examinant les textes que Francoli veut attribuer à Dantin. Nous offrons enfin une comparaison entre l’art poétique de ce dernier et celui de Nelligan.
