Abstract
L’auteur considère ici l’évolution du syndicalisme au Québec pour mieux situer les enjeux plus récents auxquels il se trouve confronté tant sur le plan de l’organisation du travail que sur celui des réformes sociales. Or, il paraît difficile de décrire la réalité syndicale d’aujourd’hui sans tenir compte de son contexte, en particulier du rôle économique et social de l’État. Bien que, historiquement, les rapports État-syndicats aient été favorables ou du moins aient accompagné la croissance du mouvement syndical, la crise que l’État providence a traversée ces dernières années oblige à revoir les stratégies élaborées par les syndicats québécois. Traditionnellement défini comme étant une force d’opposition, est-ce que le mouvement syndical représente toujours une force de changement ? Pour répondre à cette question l’auteure considère les dangers croissants de dualisation sociale, qui génèrent une série de nouvelles contradictions.
