Abstract
Internal hernias are a rare cause of intestinal obstructions and responsible for 1% of all obstructions. Paraduodenal hernia is the most common form of congenital internal hernia and constitutes a protrusion of bowel into the retroperitoneal space through peritoneal defects near the third and fourth portion of the duodenum. The clinical symptoms are non-specific and it depends on the degree of obstruction. Preoperative diagnosis is very difficult.
