La politica exterior canadiense recientemente ha puesto enfasis en la promocion de la identidad y los valores canadienses. Un ejercicio de “Estado modelo” intento transformar la imagen de Canada, internacionalmente, en apoyo de sus intereses economicos y politicos. Sin embargo, la “realidad retorica” entre la articulacion de sus valores y la realidad de sus acciones puede minar las metas indicadas de su politica exterior. El caso canadiense demuestra la necesidad de fomentar nuestra comprension del mencionado estado modelo, particularmente sus dimensiones domesticas y como se relacionan con la tentativa de un estado de transformar su narrativa nacional. El desafio para Canada, si desea proyectar valores canadienses al exterior, es reexaminar el nexo domestico-internacional
