Abstract
Nikolski, le premier roman de Nicolas Dickner, paru en 2005, a remporte trois prestigieux prix littéraires (le Prix Anne-Hébert, le Prix des libraires du Québec et le Prix des collégiens), a déjà été publié en France chez Denoel et s'apprête à conquérir le marche international anglophone des le printemps prochain. Le roman a notamment séduit le public grâce à son écriture directe, imagée et teintée d'ironie. Nikolski s'inscrit dans une problématique actuelle, soit celle de l'identité, à laquelle nous nous intéressons particulièrement. L'objectif de notre thèse est de montrer: (1) l'originalité du traitement spatio-temporel et (2) comment l'espace et le temps influencent la formation identitaire des trois personnages principaux du roman, le narrateur-personnage, Noah et Joyce. Notre méthodologie s'appuiera sur la pragmatique, une approche qui aborde le discours comme prises de paroles ancrées dans un lieu et un temps déterminés.
