Abstract
Antonio de Guevara, predicador, cronista de Carlos V y obispo de Mondonedo, fue el autor mas leido y controtrovertido en lengua espanola en la Edad de Oro y hasta 1650. Antonio de Guevara y Europa estudia exhaustivamente la influencia que la obra de Guevara ha ejercido en Espana y en Europa hasta hoy en dia, tanto en el ambito de la erudicion como en las principales literaturas europeas, y llena un vacio importante en los estudios guevarianos. El libro de Simon A. Vosters pone de relieve el caracter fundamentalmente moralista de la obra de Guevara, cuyo buen sentido del humor estuvo casi siempre al servicio de la etica. Simon A. Vosters estudio filologia y literatura neerlandesa y espanola en la Universidad Catolica de Nimega, donde se doctoro con un trabajo sobre Espana en la literatura neerlandesa. Ha impartido clases y cursos diversos en la Universidad Estatal de Groninga y la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y es catedratico de espanol en la University British Columbia, en Vancouver (Canada). Forma parte de diversas instituciones culturales y academicas de Europa y America. Es autor de un centenar de publicaciones.
