Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Classical multi-document summaries focus on the common topics of a document set and omit distinctive themes particular to a single document—thereby often suppressing precisely that kind of information a user might need for a specific task. This can be avoided through ad-vanced multi-document summaries that take a user’s context and history into account, by deliv-ering focused, contrastive, or update summaries. To facilitate the generation of these different sum-maries, we propose to generate all types from a single data structure, topic clusters, which pro-vide for an abstract representation of a set of documents. Evaluations carried out on five years’ worth of data from the DUC summarization com-petition prove the feasibility of this approach. 1

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
