Abstract
En este artículo Rosa Bruno-Jofré y Jon Ingelmo Zaldívar examinan la crítica que el propio Iván Illich hace a La Sociedad Desescolarizada y la subsecuente revisión crítica a las instituciones educativas y a la comprensión de la educación, en el contexto tanto de su propio trayecto intelectual como del giro epistemológico que comenzó a tomar forma a principio de los 80. Bruno-Jofré y Zaldívar examinan cómo, con el tiempo, Illich reorientó su indagación hacia las raíces (origen) de las certezas modernas (como aquellas relacionadas con la educación) y exploró la manera en que los seres humanos son integrados en sistemas generados por esas “certezas”. Illich se implicó en un análisis histórico más que en proveer respuesta a problemas contemporáneos específicos, mientras mantuvo su interés por la relación entre pasado y presente.Con las metáforas de la palabra, la página y la pantalla identifica tres grandes mutaciones en el imaginario social occidental y la reconstrucción del ser individual. Bruno Jofré y Zaldívar sostienen que mientras sus escritos, entre los que se incluye La Sociedad Desescolarizada, tenían generalmente un carácter apofático, su crítica a la educación, principalmente a fines de los 80 y en los 90, se entrelaza con su análisis de la parábola del Buen Samaritano y su creencia en la modernidad como producto de una cristiandad corrompida.
