Abstract
Les bibliothèques médicales sont essentielles : elles soutiennent la prise de décisions cliniques et administratives tout en étant partie intégrante de la formation des professionnels en santé et de la recherche scientifique. Cet article dresse un portrait des bibliothèques dans les établissements et agences de santé et de services sociaux du Québec. L’auteur décrit le contexte dans lequel évoluent ces centres documentaires, en faisant part de nombreux changements survenus dans l’organisation des soins de santé au Québec et de l’esprit de collaboration qui anime le réseau documentaire en santé. Il aborde la place des centres de documentation dans les organisations de santé, leurs effectifs professionnels, l’évolution des services offerts à leur clientèle et leurs collections de plus en plus virtuelles. Pour clore, l’auteur présente un bref aperçu des nouveaux rôles possibles des professionnels de l’information en santé.
