Entre crônica e reportagem, familiaridade e exotismo: Françoise em Paris (La Patrie, 1900)

Abstract
Por volta de 1900, a imprensa quebequense passa por grandes transformações. Jornais como La Presse, La Patrie e Montreal Star passam a priorizar a informação e a reportagem. Contudo, ainda pouco se conhece sobre a história da reportagem no Québec. Neste artigo, proponho-me a analisar principalmente as crônicas de Françoise (pseudônimo de Robertine Barry), exemplo ímpar da transição poética entre a crônica e a reportagem no Canadá francês. Os textos que Françoise publica em La Patrie por ocasião da Exposição Universal de 1900 se mostram ao mesmo tempo como crônica mundana expatriada, crítica cultural, narrativa de viagem e reportagem. Esta é a hibridez genérica que pretendemos investigar a partir da reflexão sobre diversos aspectos deste corpus: o de ter sido escrito por uma mulher jornalista, grande figura ligada ao gênero mais antigo da crônica, praticante de uma reportagem que não se anuncia como tal. Há nesses textos uma série de traços característicos dos primórdios da reportagem quebequense, que se baseia em empréstimos de gêneros mais familiares como a crônica e se interessa por objetos culturalmente e linguisticamente próximos, mas geograficamente distantes. A partir desse estudo, poderemos, portanto, compreender como a reportagem se impôs progressivamente adotando alguns procedimentos típicos da crônica.
