Abstract
Une série de huit années d'observations effectuées dans un petit bassin-versant des Appalaches estriennes permet d'établir des bilans d'exportation de produits dissous de part et d'autre de la zone principale d'inflexion des versants. Ces bilans, obtenus dans un relief d'érosion différentielle modéré, montrent que la perte totale de l'aval est au moins cinq fois plus importante en conditions actuelles de végétation hétérogène et supérieure à trois si on suppose le climax forestier réalisé; le transfert depuis l'amont ne l'emporte que dans les cas de Al et Fe en raison de la podzolisation plus intense. Cet avantage, qui tend à accroître les dénivellations entre les ensembles lithologiques, est le résultat de conditions favorisant la météorisation et la dissolution en aval : plus grande abondance de matériel altérable, épaisseur plus forte de dépôts meubles, durée d'humectation plus longue par des eaux généralement agressives. Cette situation est replacée dans le cadre de l'évolution postglaciaire de la météorisation.
