Abstract
Understanding the effect of oxygen electrode structure on electrochemical performance of a solid oxide electrolysis cell is of great importance, especially considering oxygen electrode delamination issues that are presently limiting their commercialization. To study the structure-performance relationship a closely managed production method has been developed to create controlled and repeatable electrode structures. The electrode deposition method uses a solvent based ink sprayed using an air brush. The ink formulation, processing, and deposition have been strictly controlled. The sintering method chosen to calcine the structure was carefully constrained. Morphological differences caused by the adjustment to the ink formulation, spraying, and sintering parameters were observed.
