Abstract
This study explores the information exchange between street canvassers and passers-by in the urban core of downtown Toronto. Using a series of ethnographic methods, the physical and vocal information delivered by the street canvasser was studied to uncover those tactics which they employ to attract the attention of passers-by, cause them to stop and perhaps even donate to the cause.Cette étude explore l’échange d’information entre les solliciteurs de rue et les passants au centre-ville de Toronto. Au moyen d’une série de méthodes ethnographiques, l’information physique et vocale communiquée par les solliciteurs a été étudiée pour déceler les tactiques employées pour attirer l’attention des passants, les inciter à s’arrêter et à faire un don pour la cause.
