Certes, il est tout à fait trivial de reconnaître que le meilleur moyen pour récolter des documents pertinents, dans un processus de recherche d'information , est de tenir compte du profil du demandeur; mais il n'en demeure que les voies suivies jusqu'à maintenant, basées sur le principe de la diffusion sélective de l'information (DSI), ou sur la structuration des formats d'affichages, n'ont apportées que des solutions partielles. Avec l'avènement des standards de metadonnées pour la description de ressources éléctroniques, d'autres solutions ont été pressenties pour améliorer les systèmes de recherche d'information.Dans cet article, je tente d'exposer les éléments clés d'un travail de thèse de doctorat, où je me propose d'associer à une description de ressources par un standard de metadonnée, en l'occurrence le Dublin Core, des éléments de profil utilisateur. Dans le processus de recherche de l'information, j'introduis la notion d'interrogation à relances ; notion présente déjà dans certains projets basés sur le Dublin Core, en Australie et en Grande-Bretagne, mais non encore définie dans des contextes analogues à celui où je la transpose.
