Cet article analyse des histoires naturelles et des récits de voyage d’auteurs français du XVIe siècle en portant attention à la dimension confessionnelle de leur discours. Quelles sont leurs fonctions dans la géopolitique religieuse de l’Atlantique français et, plus particulièrement, dans les luttes entre catholiques et huguenots ? Que deviennent les histoires naturelles et récits de voyages au XVIIe siècle ? Perdent-ils de leur importance dans les polémiques françaises entre protestants et catholiques ? Finalement, la Révocation de l’Édit de Nantes met-elle fin aux projets de colonisation huguenote et aux histoires naturelles et récits de voyage confessionnalisés dans l’Atlantique français ?
