À l’école, l’une des intentions de lecture que l’on suscite chez les élèves est celle d’apprendre en lisant. Il est important de connaitre les pratiques pédagogiques employées à l’école secondaire en milieu défavorisé, car des recherches ont montré que les élèves ont souvent des lacunes dans leurs manières d’apprendre en lisant. En lien avec le cadre théorique développé dans ce domaine (Cartier, 2007 ; Cartier et coll., 2011), le but de cette étude consiste à décrire les pratiques pédagogiques que deux enseignants se sont appropriées sur les aspects cognitifs de l’apprentissage par la lecture. La discussion met en relation ces pratiques et les principaux constats tirés sur les perceptions de leurs élèves quant à l’apprentissage par la lecture. Les résultats montrent un degré de concordance élevé entre les deux, ce qui montre que la qualité des pratiques pédagogiques qui ciblent explicitement l’apprentissage par la lecture est d’une grande importance.
