Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

In honor of the upcoming 25 t h anniversary of the encyclical Humanae Vitae by Paul VI (July 25, 2003) and the 75 t h birthday ofG. Grisez (September 30, 2004), one of the most important contemporary English speaking moral theologians, the present work inaugurates a series of articles on contraception in the thought of Grisez. The present article presents Grisez's critique regarding the three most common errors in presenting the essence of the contraceptive act and its intrinsic incorrectness. The three equivocations in question consist in considering contraception as: I) a type of external conduct either of using certain methods or of obtaining certain results in relation with the fertility of the conjugal act; 2) a sort of artificial intrusion against the fertility of the conjugal act; 3) an action that goes against the biological or physiological nature of the conjugal act. Grisez shows how none of these opinions succeeds in touching the true core of the problem. They suppose an erroneous conception of the morality of human action as moral action.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
