Abstract
Abstract: There are growing women entrepreneurs in Malaysia. These women entrepreneurs play major roles in promoting the development of Malaysia economic. And these women entrepreneurs help providing job opportunities to Malaysian. Knowing their importance in economics of Malaysia, Government of Malaysia has arranged numbers of programs and incentive to promote the development of these women entrepreneurs. As a result there emerged numbers of associations who are willing to help and give support to these women entrepreneurs. This paper intends to discuss the scenario of today's women entrepreneurs and associations which support the development of these women entrepreneurs and opportunities to grab off these women entrepreneurs. Ces femmes entrepreneurs jouent un role majeur dans la promotion du developpement economique de la Malaisie. Ces femmes entrepreurs contribuent a l'economie malaisienne en offrant des possibilites d'emploi. Reconnaissant leur importance dans l'economie de la Malaisie, le Gouvernement de la Malaisie a organise de nombreux programmes d'incitation visant a promouvoir le developpement de ces femmes chefs d'entreprise. Par consequent, il y apparait un nombre d'associations qui pretent a aider et soutenir les femmes chefs d'entreprise. Ce document a pour objectif d'examiner la situation actuelle des femmes entrepreneurs, des associations qui soutiennent leur developpement de ces femmes et des opportunites a saisir pour elles. INTRODUCTION In general women are unable to participate fully in the development process. Thus, more women are poor, illiterate, enjoying not proper healthcare. They are victims of violence such as rape, abuse as well as neglect, denied basic rights, discrimination and suffer other forms of inequality as though their status is below compared of men and their situation is far worse than the men's. To this it shows that there is disparity between men and women in the aspects of education, health, employment, legal matters, leadership, acquiring power, ownership of resources, etc. In Malaysia, women in this country are luckier as their position and status have improved over time as a result of the national development policy that has brought blessings to all citizens regardless of sex. However, there are still a lot more initiatives that need to be taken to ensure that women are placed in their rightful position, and strategies that need to be formulated to ensure that women are able to contribute fully to the development process. 2. WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR: SCENARIO OF MALAYSIA According to Jaime Faustino (2005), in promoting entrepreneurship, government of Malaysia had led a strong initiative particularly on race - the ethnic Malays or Bumiputras - to address the social and economic inequities resulting from a centuries-old colonial policy that assigned a race to an economic activity. As the main agents of economic growth, the government now adopts a variety of supporting mechanisms and policies for the Malay entrepreneurs, including physical infrastructure, business advisory services and funding. Beginning in 1983, the government started to repeal its earlier promotion of public enterprises and began to encourage privatization. In helping to create the conditions and opportunities for entrepreneurship government of Malaysia has started also adopting a series of policies ranging from privatization to the encouragement of small and medium-scale industries (SMI) development. A special ministry has been established, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development, to serve as the lead agency for the development of Bumiputra entrepreneurs and to synchronize entrepreneurship activities in general. …
