Abstract
Cet article propose quelques mises au point sur le discours de presse susceptibles d’aider l’analyste du discours débutant dans sa confrontation avec un corpus de presse écrite. Après avoir analysé la posture particulière du chercheur à l’égard de son objet, on s’intéresse à la nature de ce qui est donné à lire dans le journal. Le discours de presse apparaît comme un objet propre, non réductible à un reflet des prises de parole publiques. Il est caractérisé par la polyphonie, et par la sélection et la transformation des énoncés qu’il rapporte. Une connaissance minimale des pratiques professionnelles des journalistes s’avère nécessaire pour comprendre la façon dont le journal donne la parole aux différents acteurs de l’espace public.
