Abstract
A l'heure de la globalisation un nombre croissant de patients choisissent d'aller se faire soigner a l'etranger, a un prix qui peut etre 10-20 fois moins cher. Les raisons sont multiples. Certains pays sont confrontes a une demande croissante, soit a cause d'un defaut de couverture des prestations par les assurances maladie (par exemple: Etats-Unis) ou a cause des listes d'attente (par exemple: Royaume-Uni, Canada). En parallele, l'offre de soins s'est amelioree de maniere spectaculaire dans de nombreux pays d'Asie et d'Amerique latine. Dans ces conditions de plus en plus de patients franchissent le pas et se rendent dans ces hopitaux, generalement accredites selon des normes europeennes ou americaines, pour beneficier de chirurgie cardiovasculaire ou orthopedique. En Suisse, ce phenomene encore marginal pourrait etre amene a se developper dans un avenir proche.
