Les programmes d’enseignement du français au secondaire québécois (2005/2009) prescrivent une liste de notions littéraires à enseigner. On ignore cependant quels sont les objets réellement enseignés sous l’appellation «littérature» et comment ils sont articulés au travail de lecture de textes littéraires en classe. Nous avons donc mené une recherche pour décrire les pratiques d’enseignement de la littérature. Nous avons filmé des séquences d’enseignement de la littérature au secondaire et les avons analysées en produisant des synopsis (Schneuwly et Dolz, 2009) afin de comprendre les objets enseignés. En décrivant deux exemples de pratique d’enseignement de la poésie, nous montrons en quoi le contexte de travail des enseignants, les tâches qu’ils proposent aux élèves, les dispositifs didactiques qu’ils choisissent et leurs connaissances littéraires ont des effets sur la façon dont ils articulent les savoirs littéraires au travail sur les textes littéraires. Puis, en conclusion, nous soulignons trois constats tirés de nos analyses et nous identifions quelques chantiers à développer dans la recherche en didactique de la littérature.
